5th grade. Ohio. Kent State University. After winning the state competition, a team of students from a Maryland elementary school placed about halfway through the pack in the "Camelot" problem at the 1984 Olympics of the Mind world finals. In the associated computer competition, using the recently released Commodore 64, we took the bronze. Such was my introduction to computing.

I grew up in Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland. I spent part of my childhood in Annandale Virginia, part in Arlington Virginia, part in Mount Vernon Virginia, and part in LaPlata Maryland. I attended several years of college at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, but completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at George Mason University. I currently live in Falls Church, Virginia. Located less than 10 miles from ground zero, this assures that in the event of a nuclear war I will be among the first to go.
